Swaddling babies has been done since ancient times, and involves wrapping your little one securely in a thin material making them feel snuggly and safe.
There are lots of ways to swaddle a baby and every year, new and improved 'swaddle blankets' come to the market, claiming to help improve the way you swaddle your baby.
The main benefits of swaddling are:
It is really important that the material you use to swaddle your baby is the best you can find. There is a lot of close contact between the baby and the material which is why the correct material is important.
Snuggly Merino only uses 100% Natural Merino fabric (check out 'Why Merino') to make their swaddles. Merino will help self regulate babies temperature, which stops them getting too cold or too warm. Merino also has the ability to 'breathe', so it can draw moisture away from babies skin, helping to keep the baby both warm and dry.
It's important to use natural fabrics over synthetic fabrics (or even cotton fabrics) due to their natural properties. Lets face it, sheep are covered in the same material and manage to live in warm, cool and sometime freezing climates, relying on this covering alone.
The other important point about using natural fabrics, is that merino is naturally stretchy, this helps to create the perfect swaddling blanket, it can be wrapped snuggly abound the baby and 'stretches' to form the perfect swaddle - not too loose, not too tight.
Remember, there are lots of benefits to swaddling, but the type of fabric is important - use only 100% Natural Merino fabric.
